Alumni Forum 2011
Friday 2nd September and Saturday 3rd September 2011
The Alumni Forum focuses on how the University engages with the wider community to deliver excellence in education and research. Held over two mornings, the theme for this year's Forum is Create, Connect, Collaborate.
Held in Bonython Hall, participants will have the opportunity to hear the Vice-Chancellor, senior managers and key industry and community partners speak at sessions on:
* Building a Great Research University
* Innovations in Teaching and Learning
* and Community Engagement.
Some of the topics covered include research partnerships, online learning, the use of new technology and social media, and the impact of the volunteer program at the University of Adelaide.
Read more and register – Friday’s lunch will be provided so RSVPs are essential.
Our Alumni
Alumni of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) are prized for their ability to think laterally and to find creative solutions to problems. They are individuals who are interested in the big picture, finding answers to burning questions, understanding human behaviours, cultures and history, and exploring new or existing areas of study.
Therefore, it's not surprising HUMSS alumni can be found everywhere, in all manner of careers. From novelist to environmentalist, musician to historian, and social worker to television producer.
The diversity of career pathways alone can create a multitude of challenges for any university to engage and connect their alumni. But it also presents a wealth of opportunities. For alumni this includes: the opportunity to reconnect with fellow graduates and staff, recognition and utilisation of their professional skills as well as career development through postgraduate studies. For the University, engaging with alumni - which is inclusive of industry, government and the wider community - will ensure the quality and relevance of curriculum and research, at the same time providing support to and enriching the student experience.
