Enrolling All students are required to enrol online via Access Adelaide available through the Unified portal. Once you have been made an offer, a Welcome letter will be posted to you including your username and password. You will be able to enrol from any computer with internet access either on or off campus from Wednesday 6 February 2013 at 9.00am. You should enrol as soon as possible following this date and no later than the critical dates provided below. A step by step guide to enrolling is available on the University’s enrolment website. If you need assistance to enrol, please contact the Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty Office on Ph 8313 5245 or email humss.office@adelaide.edu.au. Alternatively you can contact the University's Enrolment Hotline on 8313 3833 or email enrol.help@adelaide.edu.au. In person assistance to enrol is available from the University Contact Centre, Level 4, Wills building.
Semester Dates Semester 1 commences on Monday 4 March 2013. You can view semester dates in full at the student dates website.
Program Requirements The program requirements for each level of award, including the compulsory courses (subjects). Detailed rules for each program can be accessed in the University Calendar.
Electives courses may be selected from the list below. You will notice that not all elective courses are available in 2013 (some courses are offered biennially based on staff availability). All courses have been included in case you are planning your enrolment over more than one year. Further detail about Art History courses. Further information, including class numbers for enrolment, class timetables, tuition fees, and important dates, is available via the University’s Course Planner website.
Professional Certificate in Art History To qualify for the Professional Certificate, students must complete one course to the value of 6 units, as follows: 1 x Core Course or Elective Course chosen from the list below
Graduate Certificate in Art History To qualify for the Graduate Certificate, students must complete two courses to the value of 12 units including: 1 x Core Course (6 units), and 1 x Elective Course (6 units)*
*Students may present another core course as an elective
Graduate Diploma in Art History To qualify for the Graduate Diploma, students must complete four courses to the value of 24 units including: 1 x Core Course (6 units), and 3x Elective Course (18 units)*

Master of Arts (Studies in Art History) To qualify for the Masters degree, students must complete six courses to the value of 36 units including: 1 x Core Course (6 units), and 3x Elective Course (18 units)*

Master of Arts (Studies in Art History) and Master of Arts (Curatorial and Museum Studies) double degree program To qualify for the Masters of Arts (Studies in Art History) and Master of Arts (Curatorial and Museum Studies) double degree program, students must complete courses to the value of 48 units including: 1 x Core Course 3x Elective Course

Students can only enrol in the Dissertation/Research Project once they have completed the Graduate Diploma with a distinction average or higher (and have the approval of the Program Coordinator).
Dissertation/Research Project: All students shall complete either the full time or part-time version of the dissertation: ARTH 5520 Research Project in Art History (full time) (12 units), or ARTH 5521A and ARTH 5521B Research Project in Art History (part time) (12 units)
Research Project: All students shall complete a self initiated research project in each of: ARTH 5523 Curatorial and Museum Studies B (6 units). ARTH 5523 Curatorial and Museum Studies B (6 units).
Art History Courses 2013

Payment of Tuition Fees Early in each term or semester, you will receive an online invoice via Access Adelaide. An email will be sent to your student email account when an invoice is available. Payment due dates will be indicated on your invoice. Hard copies of invoices are not posted.
Information Technology
Your username and password give you access to online services and campus computer suites. This includes the Unified Portal, Access Adelaide, MyUni, Wireless Network, Student Web Mail, and University of Adelaide Library Electronic Resources. It is important that you regularly check your student email account as the University will correspond with you via this address. For further information, visit the ITS Student Support website. As a postgraduate student you will have certain privileges, including access to rooms allocated to postgraduate coursework students. These rooms are equipped with computers, a printer, and photocopier. Swipe card access can be arranged at the School of History and Politics Office on Level 4 of the Napier Building, and staff can give you a login and password for the printer and photocopier. Further details will be provided in February.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: Critical Dates - Each course has critical dates that you need to be aware of. These include the Last Day to Add a Course Online, the Census date (last day to withdraw without academic and financial penalty), the Last Day to Withdraw No Fail, and the last day to Withdraw Fail. These dates are important. If you intend to withdraw from a course, you must do so on or before the Census date or you will incur a liability and have a WNF or WF grade on your academic record. Graduation Once you have completed all requirements of your degree, you should check your student email account for information about Graduation. The University has an automated process which detects eligible graduands; however you will need to ensure an application to graduate has been created for you in Access Adelaide. If no application exists, you will need to apply. For further information, visit the graduations website.
Upgrading If you wish to upgrade to a higher level of the same award program, e.g. from the Graduate Certificate in Art History to the Graduate Diploma in Art History, you will need to submit an internal transfer application at the University Contact Centre. You can submit an application at any time of the year and the application will be processed for the next upcoming semester. The criteria for upgrading and application forms can be accessed at the postgraduate coursework information on the future students site. Forms can be lodged in person at the University Contact Centre (North Terrace Campus), by fax to (08) 8313 5550, or by scanning and emailing the form to local.admissions@adelaide.edu.au
What's Next? The first class of each course in both semesters 1 and 2 is always conducted at the Art Gallery. Please meet outside the Art Gallery Bookshop entrance on the first day of class at 5.00pm sharp. A list of key textbooks for each course is available on the Art History website and can be purchased from the Art Gallery bookshop.
