Elise Kamleh
Elise studied Asian art, Australian art, Australian Indigenous
art and Japanese art. Both Asian art subjects led her to focus her
Master's thesis on an Asian art topic with an Islamic focus. She studied
Arabic and was very interested in Arabic culture. This then led to
an architectural tile topic, which Dick Richards, the former curator
of Asian art, fortunately agreed to supervise.
Elise is now exhibiting and continuing with her artistic career,
which had been in limbo from time to time. She is also preparing a
bibliography for a PhD thesis, which she hopes to start in 2006. She
is also doing some voluntary research at the Art Gallery of South
Australian and is continuing with relief teaching in Secondary Schools.
Doing the Masters of Art History courses increased her enthusiasm
for the study of art history, and the really interesting jobs that
are connected with exhibiting, obtaining and analyzing art from our
own and other people's cultures.
