Mary Rivett
Mary has degrees in Secondary School Teaching and Social Administration and
has worked in teaching and as a Social Worker and, more recently following training,
is a volunteer guide at the Art Gallery of South Australia. She completed the
MA in Art History in 2005, studying courses in Australian Art, European Art
since the Renaissance, Australian Indigenous Art and Japanese Art. She found
sessions held in the Art Gallery were an excellent complement to lectures and
tutorials.
Mary pursued her interest in Australian Indigenous Art for her
MA dissertation entitled: 'Yilpinji art love magic: changes in the
representation of Yilpinji love magic objects in the visual arts at
Yuendumu'. She found the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Flinders
Art Museum provided excellent support and access to their collections
for her dissertation study.
