Careers in Asian Studies
Graduates with a B.A. degree majoring in Chinese or Japanese language and associated cultural and social science courses have a wide variety of employment opportunities. Some proceed, after gaining additional qualifications in education, to teach in the primary or secondary school system; others to administrative or professional careers in government departments, international agencies, business or law; some live and work in various capacities in China or Japan.
As political, social and economic ties between Australia and Asia develop, the range and availability of interesting and fulfilling employment opportunities for Asian studies graduates may be expected to grow. Students who combine their language and area studies with a professional or discipline specialisation can therefore anticipate that their skills will be in demand.
