Community Engagement

Seminars and Talks

Creative Writing hosts events such as seminars and talks that members of the public are often welcome to attend.

Asia-Pacific Writing Partnership

The University of Adelaide, through the Creative Writing Program, is the host institution for the Asia-Pacific Writing Partnership (APWP), which is an international collaboration of universities, literary organizations and individual writers, scholars, and others interested in researching, supporting or otherwise promoting new writing from or about Asia and the Pacific.

Staff and Student Activity

Staff and students engage with the broader writing, publishing and reading community in many ways, including:

  • appearances at readings and book launches
  • judging prizes and competitions
  • participation in festivals and reading groups
  • involvement with PEN (a worldwide association that advocates free speech and promotes literature): postgraduate candidate Dominique Wilson is the current chair of Adelaide PEN
  • supporting a range of publications and community initiatives, such as the South Australian Writers' Centre and The Big Book Club.

Staff are also available to assist members of the public with inquiries and may be contacted by phone, email or mail. More information about staff interests and expertise in the Creative Writing Program are available at Staff and Affiliates.

Arts SA

ArtsSA supports Creative Writing at the University of Adelaide by part-funding the Chair of Creative Writing.
