Discipline of European Studies

The University of Adelaide Australia

Postgraduate

Introduction

There are two post-graduate degrees in European Studies—the M.A. and the Ph.D. Both are research degrees, and their formal requirement is the presentation of a thesis.

Students who wish to enrol in a Ph.D. usually need a first class Honours in a relevant Arts discipline.

Students with an upper second class degree are allowed to enrol in an M.A., and subsequently change to a Ph.D. at the end of their first year of research, if this seems appropriate.

If you are planning to do postgraduate work in the area of European Studies, it is important that you consult Associate Professor John West-Sooby on the availability of appropriate resources and  supervision.

See also The Guide for Higher Degree Students.  The Faculty has a guide to style for the thesis.
