A/Prof Paul Sendziuk, School of History and Politics - For developing and evaluating innovative learning activities and assessment tasks that engage the curiosity of students and promote critical reflection and lifeling learning skills.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences prides itself on the quality and effectiveness of its teaching. Staff in the Faculty are highly qualified in their chosen fields and are committed to assisting students to achieve their educational goals within a teaching and learning environment that is interactive, engaging, innovative and supportive. In recognition of teaching excellence and innovation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences awards a number of prizes annually.

2009: Dr Melissa Nursey-Bray, Geography, Environment and Population - for sustained commitment to developing interdisciplinary understanding and critical thinking skills of students working in the field of environmental sustainability.

2008: Dr Tom Burton, English - for successfully stimulating deep learning by bringing to the study of English both rigour and a boundless enthusiasm that challenge and inspire students to achieve.

2007: Dr Lucy Potter, English - for outstanding modelling of both effective, student-centred teaching and dynamic leadership in the discipline of English, including ESL.

2007: A/Prof Elizabeth Koch OAM, Elder Conservatorium of Music - for outstanding contribution to student learning in the field of music through the empathetic, effective mentoring of music students, particularly those studying the flute.

2006: Dr Joy McEntee, English - for modelling an 'infectious enthusiasm' for learning and teaching as a stiumlating and emotionally rewarding experience, inspiring both learners and teachers over a ten-year period.
