9 June, 2009. Award of ALTC Grant. Earlier this year an application for funding was made to the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) under the Priority Projects Program. We are delighted to announce that the application, entitled 'Getting a MUVE on: Developing Web 2.0 Curricula in the Humanities', was successful. A substantial grant of $204,000 will be awarded to cover the cost of development, research and dissemination and expansion of the Georgian London project from a single researcher in History to two additional Disciplines at the University of Adelaide and to the Discipline of History at Murdoch University.
16 May, 2009. 'The Strand' is delivered & construction begins. The Strand is an island in Second Life and owned by the University of Adelaide. Students and staff will construct a virtual representation of the area of The Strand as it appeared in the eighteenth-century as an innovative and immersive environment for learning and teaching in the Humanities. Funding is being sought which will expand the project to include additional Disciplines at the University of Adelaide and to History at Murdoch University.
