Graduate programs in International Studies

International Studies provides an opportunity to explore the character of the contemporary world and gain an advanced understanding of the key issues and debates in international politics since 1945. At the heart of the program is a group of staff who specialise in a wide range of areas of teaching and research including: Strategic and Security Studies, Security and Intelligence, Contemporary International Thought, Gender Perspectives in International Relations, International Political Economy, Issues of Equality and Inequality in the International Sphere, Power and Culture, Asian Studies and European Studies.

Program structure
There are three program levels available - Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Arts (International Studies). All students take at least one of the core courses, with Graduate Certificate students taking one additional course which may be an elective course or the other core course. Graduate Diploma and Masters students undertake both core courses and two elective courses. In deciding which electives to undertake, students can choose whether to focus on one of the specialist areas available, or even undertake some language study. Students undertaking the Masters program must also complete a research project in an area of interest, and present a dissertation on their work.

All courses are taught via graduate seminars, with assessment consisting of essay writing and conducting seminar presentations.
