Postgraduate Degrees by Coursework

The school of History and Politics offers a variety of very exciting and distinctive postgraduate MA coursework programs:

Art History and Curatorial & Museum Studies
These highly innovative programs in Art History and in Curatorial and Museum Studies are offered jointly by the Art Gallery of South Australia and the University of Adelaide. Classes  are taught by the Gallery Director, Curators and University staff in the spaces of the Art Gallery around works on display and in the collection. Graduates are employed in a range of arts industries including galleries, auction houses, art journalism, arts policy and lecturing and tutoring in Art History.

Food Studies
The Graduate Program in Food Studies, to begin late 2012, is a unique multidisciplinary program focusing on the history and culture of food and drink and their relevance to contemporary customs and practices. Courses will be offered both online and on-campus. Students may also choose electives in food writing, marketing, global agriculture and wine business, and food and wine tourism.

Food Writing may be studied as part of the Graduate Program in Food Studies or with the aim of graduating with the Graduate Certificate in Food Writing.

Food Writing
The University of Adelaide offers the only acredited Food Writing qualification in Australia. Coordinated by Professor Barbara Santich, the Graduate Certificate in Food Writing articulates with the Graduate Program in Food Studies.

Students in this program have a keen interest in all aspects of food and drink, from history and culture to politics and production. The food writing courses give them the opportunity to practise different forms of food writing and refine their writing skills to publishable standard.

International Studies
This distinctive program offers specialisations in international relations and international security, and the broader political study of how states co-exist, what constitutes a sense of security, and how conflicts emerge. Students also participate in the lectures, seminars and workshops offered by the SA branch of the Australian Institute of International Politics / Affairs. Graduates are employed in international business and government and non government organisations. Courses in these programs can also be taken at the Professional Certificate and Graduate Certificate level, and fees for Australian citizens can be covered by FeeHELP.
