Why Study a Bachelor of Arts?

Why should you enrol in a Bachelor of Arts?

Above all you should consider an Arts degree because Arts graduates are thinkers. The skills you'll acquire doing an Arts degree are just the sort of skills that you need to prosper in the new knowledge economy of the twenty first century.

Arts graduates are taught to be thinkers and to analyse and solve problems. They know how to distil complex matters, to conduct research and they know how to communicate their findings. Arts graduates excel at the sorts of skills that appeal to employers. Across Australia graduates with Arts degrees are employed at a higher rate by private business and industry than graduates from more narrow disciplines. Surveys show that Arts graduates are consistently ranked as having the highest skills in leadership, decision-making, communication and creativity.

An Arts degree means that you can explore a wide range of subjects. The School of History and Politics offer many courses in these disciplines, but you can also undertake study in many other areas. Whether your interests lie in the tradition areas such as English or Philosophy, or in newer fields such as Media or Gender Studies, an Arts degree offers sufficient flexibility to suit all students.
