  • Media at OPEN DAY, Sunday 26th August, 2007

North Terrace to Antartica

Liz Murphy (Global Media, Adelaide) worked with student 'roving reporters' on a web event which featured a live connection to scientists in Antarctica. The connection went down once or twice but , eventually, the scientists who are conducting experiments in global warming spoke to the Adelaide audience about their working lives, and answered questions. One of the young British scientists who was celebrating his birthday that day was delighted to hear 'Happy Birthday' sung for him - by people in a city which he'd never visited. For more information on the Halley base project : http://www.antarctica.ac.uk/living_and_working/research_stations/halley/
