AUMA (Adelaide University Media Association)
"It's not what you know, it's who you know"
The Adelaide University Media Association provides fantastic opportunities for media students to meet and socialize. Every Bachelor of Media student is highly encouraged to join AUMA because it is one of the ways to network with others as well as become a part of the media family in Australia.
The AUMA works closely with student media organizations such as On Dit and Radio Adelaide to facilitate contribution and participation. The club also provides opportunities for students to showcase their work with competitions rewarding the efforts of the best of student writing and productions. The pub crawls held every few months are of epic proportions and attract students from faculties across the university.
The club also promotes Bachelor of Media students to local media outlets such as television and radio stations, newspapers, street press, and multimedia companies in order to maximize graduate job opportunities.
The current president of the AUMA is Tyson Shine. Membership to the club is only $5 for the year and delivers a regular newsletter, information relating to media students, invitations to special student media workshops and events and lots of prizes and giveaways from official sponsors.
The Media Program has a Degree Committee made up of academics and student representatives from across the Faculty. There are two student representatives: the president of AUMA and the School of Humanities student representative. These two students are here to represent your views on how the program is run. Monica Erlich is also a media student therefore you have a strong vote on issues regarding your future.
