Level 7, Napier Building Email: Philosophy |
Honours in PhilosophyHonours Philosophy consists of a year of intensive study at the end of your ordinary degree. To qualify you normally need a major in Philosophy, including an credit average or higher at Level III. The Honours program comprises three semester length seminars and a thesis. Prospective Honours students are advised that at least one honours seminar must be in a metaphysics/epistemology area, and at least one in a moral/social area (see the handbook for details). Students considering Honours should therefore include at least 4 units from each area in Level II and III as preparation. Our program is organized jointly with the Philosophy Department at Flinders University and some of the seminars will be offered by that Discipline. Prospective Honours students should consult with the Honours Coordinator by mid-December of the year immediately proceeding their Honours year. Philosophy also offers specialist Honours programmes in Logic and Cognitive Science. Entry requirements differ from those specified above. For further information consult the Honours Coordinator: Dr Denise Gamble |
