Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning

How can we solve the problem of homelessness in Australia's cities and regions?

What are the strategies that will ensure the success of our cities, regions and towns now and into the future?

How can land use planning ensure a more sustainable future for both Australia and the rest of the world?

These are the sorts of questions that are addressed through the work of the Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning.  Drawing upon the expertise of both specialist researchers and associated academic staff, the Centre investigates, debates and disseminates new knowledge on the nature of our cities and regions.

Much of our work is focussed on developing an evidence base that can assist some of the most disadvantaged people in Australia: those affected by a disability, Indigenous Australians, persons living in remote towns as well as those living in places affected by industry restructuring.

Key themes covered in our work include housing affordability, ageing, regional growth dynamics, housing needs, universal design in accommodation, market analysis, homelessness and social inclusion.
