The Brian Coghlan Prize

Whereas sundry colleagues and friends of Brian Coghlan have donated monies towards a prize to commemorate his services to the University of Adelaide, his scholarly achievements and his contribution to the cause of German Language and Culture and of the Humanities generally in the South Australian community, the following rules are hereby made:

  1. The prize shall be known as "The Brian Coghlan Prize".
  2. The value of the prize shall be $500 unless determined otherwise by the Faculty.
  3. The prize shall be awarded annually to the student who, in the opinion of the Head of the Examining Committee of the Discipline of German Studies, is of the highest academic merit in Level III German Studies and who accepts an offer into Honours in German Studies or Honours in German Studies combined with another discipline.
  4. If in any year two or more students should be judged to be of sufficient and equal merit, then the sum available shall be divided equally among them.
  5. These rules may be varied from time to time but the title and purpose of the prize shall not be changed.
