Study Leave Scheme

ANTS Fellowships
2012 Fellowship Appointments

*N.B. STUDY LEAVE POSITIONS FOR 2012 HAVE ALREADY BEEN FILLED*

The University of Adelaide has been the recipient of a Native Title Anthropologist grant for 2011-2012 from the Federal Attorney-General's Department (ADG, C'wlth) to enable Study Leave Fellowships for native title anthropologists.  The study leave program is hosted within ANTS.

The ANTS Study Leave Scheme provides an academic home for native title anthropologists to take time out from their every day practice.  The Scheme can be utilised to develop research and teaching publications, professional relationships and academic synergies. To maximise these opportunities ANTS encourages a number of fellows, from senior to early career stages, to overlap the scheduling of their study leave residencies.

ANTS Fellowships

  • Are academic appointments at an appropriate level on the University of Adelaide salary scale: Academic Level A ($54,382-$73,800 pa); Level B ($77,688-$92,256 pa);
  • Level C ($95,163-$109,735 pa); Level D ($114,586-$126,239 pa) or Level E ($147,603 pa) plus 9% superannuation
  • are between 5 and 10 weeks duration (by negotiation and in relation to your research plan) in residence at the University of Adelaide
  • may be taken up from December 2011 until June 2012.

Fellows will be provided with an academic salary, an office on campus and access to relevant research facilities at the University including our world class library, email, computing and IT support. The South Australian Museum's ethnological collection and archive are just metres away.

Fellows from outside Adelaide will also receive a travel and accommodation allowance of $250 per week for the period of their fellowship.

During their tenure ANTS Fellows will:

  • develop publications relevant to native title anthropology
  • present papers and drafts in seminar series or colloquia
  • engage in mentoring relationships with others
  • contribute to the development of teaching materials in native title anthropology.

Applicants should:

  • address all essential and desirable selection criteria for the level of appointment they seek;
  • submit a plan (no more than 2 A4 pages / no less than 10 font size) for the development of a publication in native title anthropology which is realisable during the period they propose for their tenure; and
  • indicate their willingness to present drafts of their work in seminars and/or colloquia, engage in mentoring relations and contribute to the development of teaching materials in native title anthropology at Adelaide University for the duration of their Fellowship.

APPLICATIONS FOR THIS ROUND CLOSED ON THE 16TH NOVEMBER 2011
