Undergraduate Courses

In 2008 we are offering two first-year semester courses: SPAN1003 (first semester) and SPAN1004 (second semester). Both courses are an introduction to the Spanish language and aimed at students with no previous of the at all.

There is no pre-requisite to enrol in SPAN1003. The pre-requisite to enrol in SPAN1004 is to have taken and passed SPAN1003. The textbook used in both courses is ¡Claro que sí! (6th ed. Boston, New York: Houghton Miffling, 2008) by Lucía Caycedo Garner, Debbie Rusch and Marcela Domínguez.

In 2009, we will be introducing four more courses: two intermediate language courses, one course on the culture and civilization of Spain, and one on the culture and civilisations of Latin America.

It is our intention to introduce four more courses in 2010: two advanced language course, one in Latin American literature and culture, and one in the literature and culture of Spain.

Students taking the three years of instruction in Spanish and culture and literature of the Hispanic World will be able to graduate with a BA in Spanish Studies.
